About me.

I’m Allison Sadler, free spirited creative, designer, blogger, biz owner, lifestyle coach & mentor. I’ve spent the last thirty years bringing my work and everyday living together to create a life I love. No rules, no pressure, just prioritising my well being and whatever makes me happy.

I’m forever on a mission to encourage you to live freely and creatively too and to embrace who you are straight from the heart and soul. Whether that’s creating a business you love or changing your outlook on life, my approach is honest, positive and uplifting – usually served up with a healthy dose of humour, I never take myself too seriously!

My story.

Born mixed race in the early 70’s I never felt like there was a natural place for me to ‘fit in’ and I certainly didn’t see myself represented in mainstream society, so I’ve spent my whole life being free! Haha, the gentle rebel and Aquarius energy in me was always ready to follow my own path, so it was inevitable I was going to go on to be my own boss and to live life on my own terms.

And that’s exactly what I’ve spent the past three decades doing (I know, I don’t look old enough, I was keen!) I started out at 17 with nothing but bags of enthusiasm and a fire in my belly that burned brightly enough to fuel my dreams. Plus my Jamaican mama always told me “I could grow up and be whoever I wanted to be” and she was absolutely right!

I enrolled in Art School, studied fashion, got myself a sewing machine and started to make club wear at the kitchen table. That was back in the late 80’s and I’ve never looked back.

While I was studying, I met my soulmate and husband Christian, we were both just 16 and shared the same goals – to create a life we loved doing whatever made us happy and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Together we started a clothing label and went on to open our bricks and mortar store in Birmingham in June 2000. The award winning People shop.

During the first lockdown in March 2020, after 20 years of shopkeeper life we made the decision to close the doors for good. We were both ready to move on and to embrace a slower pace working from home, It felt like the right time to focus our attention on building the online store and we’ve been enjoying a different work/life balance since.

Next up on my wish list – maybe a move to Cornwall?… or at least invest in a camper van so I can take a very long vacation! ; )

The creative journey so far…

I’m passionate about living from the heart and embracing every part of my creativity and I’ve been fortunate enough to do that throughout my career. My work has been featured in over 50 magazines, I’ve spoken at creative events up and down the country, hosted workshops, styled interior spaces, mentored countless newbie business owners and worked on a couple of TV shows! Nothing gets me more excited than a new project and sharing my experiences with the world.

Family life.

It’s at the heart of everything I do… My son Milo provides me with the best tunes and takes a cute photo of his mama and my daughter Missy shares my love of fashion and keeps me in check whenever I’m misbehaving! None of my work would be possible without them by my side, supporting my crazy ideas and generally filling my days with love and laughter like only they can. Especially my husband Christian he’s my superhero and bestie for life!
