Would you believe it if I told you we’d had the same mattress for nearly 15 years?… It was a good one with a fancy topper and everything but it’s just one of those things we never got round to replacing. Even though the springs had gone on one side and it was propped up underneath with a pile of books, every night one of us had to sleep in THE dip! To be fair to each other we’d take it in turns by flipping it over every couple of weeks but that meant whoever drew the short straw would wake up a bit groggy and achey.
I’ve lost count of the amount of times we’ve said we need to get a new one but I know we’ve both been lusting over an Eve mattress for. Like. Ever. Not sure if it’s the signature sunshine yellow branding or the promise of a dreamy night’s sleep on a bed of memory foam, either way it’s been on our wish list for a loooong time!
Well. We finally got one and some lush linen bedding too (also from Eve) and it was worth the wait. The Eve Mattress is designed for sharing because it accommodates both your needs. I like to pile on all the layers (including ma bed socks) to keep me nice and toasty in the night, Christian likes to throw off all the layers – I swear he has some built in central heating system because he NEVER gets cold! Not a problem with our lovely new mattress though because it has some ‘magic’ layer that cools ya down. I know, clever right. It’s also made from some amazing quality foam that moves with you, without disturbing your partner (great for a fidget bum like me) and on a scale of between 1 to 10 for firmness ratings, it ranks at about a 7, so it’s not super squidgy but it’s not too hard either. It’s certainly nice enough that neither of us wants to get outta bed first in the morning!
Luckily for me, that’s Christian’s job 🙂 we’ve been together almost 30 years and every day starts in the lovely same. Always with a peppermint tea and biscuits for me and strong fresh coffee for him. I’m not a morning person, so I don’t open my eyes til I hear him pop my tea cup and biccies on the bedside table! And sometimes at the weekend I pretend to stay asleep for a little bit longer, hoping he’ll make me a bacon sandwich too!
I’m a real night owl so in the evening everything changes, I’m usually hyper after a hectic day and very often at bed time my mind is still racing and I have a head full of ideas. Christian is the opposite and can’t wait to get into bed for some quiet time and to read a good book. He reads at least one a week, I struggle to read one a year if I’m honest! Running a busy business means we both value a calming space to relax and we like to set the mood to help us unwind. Our nightly routine starts with a soothing hot bubble bath, we switch on all the pretty fairy lights (there’s at least 6 sets in the bedroom) and then we light all the candles, always with a special scented one to make the room smell delicious. The only downside is whose turn is it to get up and blow them out, just as your drifting off to the land of nod! I’ll let you into a secret, it’s usually me because someone else is already snoring… 😉
For years we had a super duper kingsize so the whole family could kip together but now our children have grown up, we’ve downsized a little so it’s extra snuggly and cosy for the two of us, such a treat. We both ‘LOVE’ our sleep and having a new mattress has improved the quality loads – any guesses what we gifted each other for Valentine’s day? haha, fluffy new pillows of course! 😉 If you’re looking to fall in love with falling into bed again, go check out Eve you won’t be disappointed, it’s the sunshine bed brand that guarantees a good sleep.
And if you’re feeling tempted to get ya snooze on with Eve then you can subscribe to their mailing list here and that way you can keep up to date with all their exciting promos and product launches. Apparently they’re celebrating their 4th birthday, so if you head there now you can take advantage of a £104 discount on all full size mattresses too. Whoop whoop!
