At this time of year I like to throw open the windows and the doors leading to the garden to welcome in all of that precious light and fresh air i’ve been craving over the Winter months. Everything feels so ready for a restyle and Spring clean, two things that make me really happy. After the colder snugly months, it feels good to declutter and tidy away excess stuff and cleaning doesn’t have to be a horrible chore. I wait until I’ve got a couple of days (or evenings) to tackle and enjoy it (yup, I actually enjoy it, mess makes my head hurt, shudder shudder) I put my favourite tunes on to get me in the mood and I usually spoil myself with a couple of treats to display in my nice tidy rooms after dusting; see it’s an excuse for new goodies too!
I always start in the kitchen as that’s probably the place we hang out the most and it’s one of my favourite rooms to style in my home, the white wall acts as a lovely blank backdrop to the dining table and I change this area up whenever I’m in the mood, I don’t always wait for the seasons to dictate how it looks. But saying that, the time of year might inspire what I put on the wall and what tableware I use. Those wreaths will be coming down, although they can still look equally as lovely styled up with some pretty Spring flowers too.
This season I’m feeling lots of natural linen, wood and simple glassware teamed with a couple of simple ceramic pieces from the People shop, and obviously the whole thing looks better served up with a fresh brioche loaf and strawberry jam! Haha, yup, I like to spoil myself at every opportunity! And I’m adding finishing touches of mini posey vases, pots of herbs and a few plants for some colour and greenery. What do you think?… I’m loving the stripes and little touches of blue.
Anyway, pop back soon to see what I decided to put on the wall and how the table styling is coming along, who knows, I may have changed it all up again by then!
Big love for now
